The Management Board and the Factory Council have reached an agreement to reduce labor costs and increase flexibility in German company plants. According to plan, by 2029 the number of jobs will be reduced by 7.5 thousand, “writes” Auto Świat “, citing information from Carscoops.

The Reuters agency clarifies that the exemptions will be carried out mainly in the departments dealing with administration and development.

Poor audi results

The company belonging to the Volkswagen recorded a large sales drop in 2024. Last year, the sale of Audi cars dropped by nearly 12 percent. The most expensive decline was recorded on the domestic market. “In 2024, the Germans registered 21 % fewer cars produced by Audi than a year earlier, with a decline in the entire market by 1 % throughout the European Union, Audi scored a 9 % decrease in the number of registrations,” “Bankier.pl” calculates, indicating that in Poland the popularity of this brand increased by 12 percent. Unfortunately, as the website notes, the participation of Polish registrations throughout the European Union was only 5 percent.

“One of the reasons for the weaker sales can be a model offer. Audi has only recently started introducing new generations of its cars and an increase in sales can only make itself felt in the coming months, which also applies to electric cars” – indicates “Auto Moto”.

Audi must change

Changes are to be a way to get out of the deadlock.

“Audi must become faster, more agile and more efficient,” said Gernot Döllner, the general director of the brand, quoted by Bloomberg. In his opinion, this is the best direction to lead Audi out of the crisis.

The exemptions announced by Audi are the result of the problems faced not only by the brands belonging to the Volkswagen group, but the entire automotive industry.
