The angler broke the Polish record. He took a risk and caught a giant crucian carp

Tomasz Dylewicz i rekordowy Karaś

Tomasz Dylewicz set a new Polish record! He caught a crucian carp weighing 4.76 kg and 61 cm long. This achievement shows that carp fishing in Poland is doing great.

Tomasz Dylewicz has been an avid carp angler for 12 years. Infected with passion by his friend, he quickly fell in love with this style of fishing and since then he has been trying to spend every free moment on the water. The year 2024 was special for Dylewicz – in addition to the new record, he caught several nice fish and also broke his own personal bestsellers (PB), catching a fish weighing over 20 kg.

On September 25, Dylewicz went to Lake Trzaskowo, located near Poznań. It is a fishery with an area of approximately 16 ha, known for its large number of carp and grass carp weighing over 20 kg. There are also other cyprinids here: bream, tench and crucian carp. Dylewicz started fishing by carefully preparing the site, for which he used a large amount of boiled corn and krill pellets with a diameter of 18 mm.

A new Polish fishing record. Crucians have been waiting for this for several years

The session started very intensively – by 2 p.m. Dylewicz had 9 carps on the mat, almost all of which weighed over 10 kg. This is proof of the angler’s great preparation and skills. Although tired from many hauls, he felt great satisfaction and the entire session was very fruitful.

But what was to come next was an even bigger surprise. Around 3 p.m., after intense struggles with carp, subsequent signals from the rod indicators led to a situation in which Dylewicz had to make a decision – which fish to reel in first? Although he initially thought that the fish on one of the rods was a small carp, it quickly turned out that the landing net contained a completely different species of fish – a huge crucian carp.

A crucian carp that broke the Polish record

It quickly turned out that this fish could become one of the greatest achievements in an angler’s career. The crucian carp weighed 4.76 kg and its length was 61 cm. Tomasz decided to weigh the fish, take a few photos and release it back into the water. Only the next day, after consulting with a friend who told him that the crucian carp caught was bigger than the previous Polish record, Dylewicz realized how big a fish he had managed to catch.

Record reporting procedure

In accordance with the procedure, Tomasz prepared the necessary documentation, including photos, and reported the record catch to “WW” – an organization that verifies fishing records. The procedure also included confirming the correctness of the catch and reporting the fish to the Record Catch Commission. The final decision of the Commission was positive – a 4.76 kg crucian carp caught by Tomasz Dylewicz was recognized as a new Polish record in the weight category.

Dylewicz received awards sponsored by Konger, including the VISIT 530RD reel and Steelon FC Basic 0.20/150 m fishing line. These awards are not only recognition of the angler, but also of the passion and commitment he puts into his hobby.

Bait for a record-breaking crucian carp

The record-breaking crucian carp was tempted by a snowman made of half a 20 mm diameter ball with liver flavor, created by Sebastian Lemke, with the addition of half of Pure Monster wafters from Ultimate. The bait selected in this way is a perfect example of the effectiveness of modern baits in carp fishing. Although the bait itself may seem quite simple, its ingredients perfectly meet the requirements of the fish living in this fishery.
