Bad news for subscription opponents. Everything indicates that the fee in 2027 will not only remain, but will also increase. New rates have just been announced.

On Wednesday, the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiTV) announced new license fee rates that will apply next year.

TV license fee up from 2027

In 2027, the monthly fee for using a radio receiver will be PLN 10.80, and for a television or television and radio receiver it will be PLN 34.50. – The new rates result from the need to index the amounts each year, which is provided for in the License Fees Act – emphasizes the National Broadcasting Council.

Subscription fees will increase. Currently, Poles pay PLN 9.50 for one month for a radio receiver, and PLN 30.50 for a television or radio and radio receiver.

If the subscriber pays the fee each month, then the fee for the 12-month period is PLN 114 and PLN 366, respectively.

As “Fakt” notes, the Ministry of Culture has been announcing the liquidation of the RTV license fee for months. In public statements, the head of the ministry, Marta Cienkowska, described the fee as “archaic”, arguing in favor of financing public media from the state budget.

The Ministry has prepared a draft law which assumes that the fee will be replaced with a budget subsidy of at least PLN 2.5 billion. According to the original assumptions, the regulations were to enter into force at the beginning of next year. However, work on the project has stalled, and even if a breakthrough occurs, the decision of President Karol Nawrocki remains a mystery.

Poles want the fee to be abolished

Poles expect the abolition of the subscription fee, as evidenced by a SW Research survey for “Wprost” conducted nearly 1.5 years ago. Almost 80 percent were in favor of its liquidation. respondents, only the tenth respondent had a different opinion. 11.7 percent respondents had no opinion on this matter.

The subscription fee is considered the most neglected fee by Poles. Its collection rate is estimated at approximately 30%.
