At the beginning of this year, an act adopted by the Parliament in August 2025 came into force, providing for a recount (on new, more favorable terms) of the so-called June pensions.
From January 1 this year The Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) ex officio recalculates pensions granted or converted in June in the years 2009–2019 and survivors’ pensions of persons to whom the same rules applied. Those interested do not need to take any action. After recalculation, ZUS will issue a new decision. If the new amount was lower, the benefit remains unchanged.

The Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy announced that ZUS had counted nearly PLN 130,000. benefits. – Already 129.6 thousand benefits were recalculated by ZUS as part of the re-determination of pensions and survivors’ pensions for people who retired or retired in June 2009-2019 – we read in the ministry’s announcement posted on the X platform.
According to the ministry, the increase after conversion amounts to almost PLN 200 on average.

Let us remind you that the problem with June pensions concerns people born after 1948 who retired in 2009-2019. If they submitted an application in June, they were granted lower benefits than those applying in April or May, for example. This is because this month no additional quarterly indexation was taken into account, only the annual indexation. Parliamentarians corrected this error and unanimously adopted the new regulations. They provide that every retiree and survivors’ pensioner who retired in June in the years 2009-2019 will have the right to re-determine the amount of their benefit (the regulations do not provide for compensation for earlier years, because the benefits were calculated in accordance with the law in force at that time). The amount of the pension will be determined as if the person had retired in May of a given year, which means that the benefits will be higher and will take into account more favorable indexation rules.
ZUS is to complete the calculation of benefits by the end of March this year.
