Thanks to this you will regain the return after the holidays. Poles don’t remember it
How do you get back from vacation, you can recover money? Many tourists do not know, but it is possible if you buy souvenirs, clothes, cosmetics and many others during your stay. We reveal the details.
This time it is not about compensation from Booking.com, which the company will grant Poles for misleading them, but about something completely different. However, the case is also related to travel, and more precisely with foreign trips. It’s about Tax Free and buying products in other countries.
Recovering money thanks to Tax Free
Are you wondering what exactly is it? Tax Free consists in the fact that travelers are entitled to a refund – VAT paid when purchasing goods abroad. Poles can only gain it outside the European Union. Do you think the matter is rarely concerned? To get a large sum, all you have to do is go back from vacation in Turkey, Egypt or Morocco, and yet, they are very popular and liked directions.
To use Tax Free, use stores marked with the “Tax Free” or “VAT Refund for Tourists” sticker. Hardly any tourist pays attention to this, especially during holiday shopping, when we focus on rest and everything new. It’s a mistake. Most shopping points offering tourists have such a marking.
When we are in such a store, just ask the seller to issue a Tax Free form and take a receipt with you – without it a refund will not be possible.
That’s how much tourists can recover
People using Tax Free can recover some of the money they have allocated to buy souvenirs, including clothes, cosmetics or electronics. In the store we will pay a full amount for this product, including VAT, but it can be returned to us. How?
All you have to do is go to the airport during the airport, we will go to the point “VAT Refund”. It is usually located in the passport control area. Then we must show purchased goods, form and receipts. There is one hook. Products must still be unused. When everything agrees, customs officers base our form and confirm the possibility of tax refund. After that, we still have a visit to the Global Exchange point, where we will receive money. The procedure is not complicated, but it is worth having an additional 30-40 minutes at the airport.
How much money we finally get will depend on the VAT rate that applies in a given country. Interestingly, in Turkey it is usually 18 percent. For example, when we spend 200 EUR on purchases, we can recover EUR 36 – over PLN 150. In Morocco, the VAT rate is 20 percent. In addition, each country determines the minimum amount of purchases from which the tax refund is entitled, but these are not large sums.
