Terrible news about Agata Wróbel. Olympic medalist with a shocking decision
According to journalists from the website bielsko.biala.pl, Agata Wróbel did not decide to undergo the treatment that the former Olympian was supposed to undergo in Krakow.
We presented the case of Agata Wróbel in “Wprost” over the last several days. The former outstanding weightlifter has been in a very difficult life situation for several years. The two-time Olympic medalist revealed in mid-December 2024 that she had lost her eyesight. He reacted immediately to this news, among others: Polish Weightlifting Association, but this was only the beginning of the chain of support.

Important news regarding Wróbel was provided by Minister Sławomir Nitras. The head of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism announced that Prime Minister Donald Tusk granted Wróbel a special lifetime pension of PLN 5,000. Additionally, employees of the University Hospital in Krakow were to take care of the health of the former weightlifter.
They had it, but… most likely they won’t take care of it. According to journalists from the website bielsko.biala.pl, Wróbel refused treatment in a Krakow hospital. What’s more, she wants to find a new apartment herself, even though the commune has already prepared a new place for her to live.
– She lived with this topic for a long time. Suddenly, a few days ago, she refused. He does not want to sign a declaration to the general practitioner, and the doctor must issue a referral – admitted Barbara Czarnik-Kopaczka, director of GOPS in Porąbka, quoted by the above-mentioned Bielsko news portal.
The date for Wróbel’s arrival at the hospital was set for Thursday, January 16.
However, this is not the first situation in which a former Olympic athlete has rejected help, which is currently offered even by Prime Minister Tusk himself or Minister Nitras, and in the past by, among others, Polish Weightlifting Association.
Agata Wróbel will only be 44 years old in August 2025. As she admitted, in addition to the dramatic situation regarding her eyesight, she also suffered from depression. It is difficult to assess the overall situation in such a difficult situation. In fact, you shouldn’t do it, because it would be harmful to the former athlete.
It is possible that events will take a different turn, but currently the situation seems simply intractable. However, it seems that we should still try to help a character that has given fans so much to be happy about in the past.
