Technology changes everything. People decide the outcome
WIŚNIOWSKI became the highest-ranked representative of its industry in the “Wprost” ranking of 50 Best Employers. This is no coincidence – the company’s example shows that in the era of artificial intelligence and automation, a company’s position on the market is largely determined by technologies, but their real value depends on how people work with them – on their competences, commitment and the work environment in which they operate.
Today, modern manufacturing companies are undergoing a significant transformation. Until recently, their position was mainly determined by the quality of their products and the scale of their operations. Today, the ability to combine modern technologies with building a work environment that supports employee development and responds to the changing market realities is becoming increasingly important.
From small production to global markets
In the case of WIŚNIOWSKI, this approach is not just a declaration, but an element of a consistently implemented strategy. The company, which started with one product – a garage door opened with a remote control – today delivers its products to 35 countries and employs over 2,200 employees, showing that technological development must go hand in hand with organizational development.
– There is no more effective way to implement employer branding than a satisfied, long-term employee, and luckily we have plenty of them at the moment – says Krystyna Baran, president of the management board of WIŚNIOWSKI, emphasizing that it is their experiences that have the greatest impact on the perception of the company.
This approach translates directly into the way we build a team. WIŚNIOWSKI does not limit itself to assessing the competences of candidates, but makes sure that the employee has the opportunity to understand how the company operates, what values it follows and what quality it ultimately wants to provide to its customers. Recommendations are also becoming more and more important and, as the company emphasizes, they are becoming one of the key sources of recruiting employees.
– Candidates very often come to us by recommendation – emphasizes Krystyna Baran.
New technologies, new competences
As the company expands, the importance of new technologies grows and enters the area of production and management more and more boldly. WIŚNIOWSKI develops smart home solutions as part of its product offer, and at the same time invests in process automation and digital competences. As the company’s management emphasizes, this does not mean that people are being pushed into the background – what is changing is the nature of their work.
– Automation does not eliminate jobs, but changes their structure – says CEO Krystyna Baran, pointing out that employees are increasingly taking over tasks requiring greater competences and specialized knowledge.
At WIŚNIOWSKI, we like to say that thanks to technologies, we are able to regain jobs in order to optimize production processes even more effectively.
Artificial intelligence-based solutions are also starting to play an increasingly important role, but their implementation in the production environment is gradual and requires a pragmatic approach. In practice, this means a growing demand for new competences and a change in employee profiles.
It is in this context that the challenges of the labor market become particularly important – not only in the area of production, but throughout the entire industry value chain. The shortage of qualified technical workers – especially in professions such as carpentry fitter, where, despite the development of AI, practical skills remain crucial – means that companies increasingly cannot rely solely on specialists available on the labor market, but actively engage in the process of their education.
Competences are the currency of the future
WIŚNIOWSKI develops its own educational initiatives, such as the PRACTICE School, which was created to educate young professionals. The company has started cooperation with the 1st level PRACTICE Sectoral School, preparing future employees while still at the learning stage. Particular emphasis is placed on, among others, for the profession of a construction carpentry fitter, for which the demand on the market is constantly growing. Recruitment to the school is currently underway.
– We invest in the development of future employees because we know that it is an investment in the stability of the entire organization – explains the president of the management board of WIŚNIOWSKI.
In practice, this means cooperation with educational institutions, organizing internships and creating programs that allow young people to gain experience before entering the labor market. This approach is increasingly becoming a necessity, not a choice – especially in industries requiring specialized skills.
Work without compromising on safety
In parallel with the development of technology, the company consistently builds a work environment based on safety and mutual trust. At WIŚNIOWSKI, health and safety issues are not treated as a formality, but as an integral element of work organization, taken into account already at the stage of designing processes and positions. This means not only implementing procedures, but also actually adapting the work environment to the needs of employees and reducing physical burdens thanks to automation.
– Employee safety is one of our priorities – says the president of the management board of WIŚNIOWSKI, emphasizing that activities in this area include both system solutions and everyday practice on the production floor.
Annual training of production employees and management staff and an active group of occupational health and safety leaders are just examples showing a real increase in employee awareness and safety. The involvement of employees themselves, who participate in identifying threats and proposing improvements, also plays an important role in building a safe working environment. This approach strengthens the sense of responsibility for the workplace and translates into greater safety awareness.
A team without pigeonholing
Openness and equal opportunities also remain an important element of organizational culture. The company declares no discrimination and consistently increases the participation of women not only in administration, but also in production and in managerial positions.
This is a clear signal of a changing approach in an industry that for years was perceived as male-dominated.
In administrative structures, women lead, among others: accounting or marketing department. Moreover, they occupy as much as 25%. director positions in the company.
– What counts is competence and commitment, not gender – said Krystyna Baran, president of the management board of WIŚNIOWSKI.
The everyday experience of employees at WIŚNIOWSKI includes not only the scope of duties and work organization, but also a number of solutions that are intended to have a real impact on the comfort of functioning in the company. The company offers, among others: daily, hot and balanced meals for each employee, access to sports programs, e.g. the MultiSport card, and competence development support systems, including training tailored to the needs of various departments. Wherever possible, flexible forms of work organization are also implemented, which allow for a better reconciliation of work and private life – including: remote work in positions where it is possible. However, these are not accidental actions – they are part of a broader strategy of building commitment and reducing employee turnover.
Modernity has the face of an employee
The example of WIŚNIOWSKI shows that the foundation of a modern manufacturing company today is advanced technologies, but their effectiveness is determined by the way people use them.
It is the competences of employees, their commitment and a well-organized work environment that determine how innovations translate into real business results.
How a company works with people: their development, safety and commitment, in practice determines whether the technology brings real results. It can improve processes and speed up production, but without competent teams it remains untapped potential.
– Technology is important, but it is people who are responsible for its actual use and development – says Krystyna Baran, emphasizing that it is the competences and commitment of employees that translate innovations into specific results.
