Talent from the Czech Republic plays for Poland. There is one step away from the Great Slam

Linda Klimovicova

Linda Klimovicova advanced to the third round of qualifications at the courts Roland Garros. The Polish representative born in the Czech Republic is a sensation in the French capital.

Women’s tennis in Poland has been really well for several years. Initially, Agnieszka Radwańska rubbed the trails, and after the end of her career by “Isia” Schehed was taken over by Iga Świątek and several other interesting players.

Linda Klimovicova wins in Paris. Czech playing in the colors of Poland

Behind the back of Świątek are currently the most experienced among – Magda Linette – and Magdalena Fręch, who is a tennis player from the top thirty WTA ranking. Łódź is in 25th place, Linette at 33rd, and Świątek after the last, slightly worse performances, is currently the world number 5.

If you bury even deeper, another of the best Polish women in the WTA ranking is Maja Chwalińska. The best friend of Christmas climbs her career ladder and although she certainly goes a lot more difficult than a champion from Raszyn, she probably has not yet said the last word in her career. Chwalińska is currently number 133. Then Katarzyna Kawa, in position 143. And the one that is worth looking in particular, a Czech defending Polish colors – Linda Klimovicova. Currently number 192 in the world.

Where did the idea to make Czech talent play for Poland? Klimovicova comes from Olomouc and is 20 years old. Her father is Czech and her mother comes from Poland. Since 2020, the coach Jaroslav Machovsky has been operating in the Polish area, specifically in Bielsko-Biała. Working at the BKT Advantage club, he first dealt with, among others Klimovicova convinced the training of the mentioned Chwalińska, and then convinced.

The loudest about Klimovicova got when you reached the junior semi -final Wimbledon. It was 2022. And in October, only two years later, a tennis player was informed about the receipt of Polish citizenship.

The Czechs did not make their player any procedural problems, looking at the tennis federation. And they could. But indeed, taking into account all circumstances – including the functioning of the player herself in Poland – this movement seemed completely natural.

Klimovicova has already won six ITF tournaments in her career. This is the direct facilities of the WTA. On Thursday (i.e. May 22) in the second round of qualifications for the Grand Slam tournament in Paris, the Polish woman won with Tajka Manacya Sawangkaew in two sets (6: 2, 6: 3), entering the finals of this part of the struggle. If Klimovicova wins one more match, he will be in the career in the ladder of the main Slam tournament for the first time.

Unfortunately, at the same time, Thursday was not happy for two other Polish qualifiers. Both Chwalińska and Coffee lost their matches – during her career better feeling as a deblist.

And as you know, the “Queen of Paris” at the courts Roland Garros has been Świątek for several years. We would like to remind you that the Polish woman won here four times, successively in the editions: 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024. Certainly Klimovicova, therefore, has the best possible reference points, looking at Polish tennis. And there are many indications that in the near future, the Grand Slam debut in the senior edition may become a representative friend of Świątek.

There are many indications that the captain of the team Dawid Celt, will look with a kind eye at the great talent of Klimovicove. It seems that this player in the coming years, if health allows, it can be really loud.

It is worth adding that the Roland Garros 2025 qualification matches and the main tournament are and will be shown on Eurosport antennas and Max platform.
