Iga Świątek

The US Open begins the singles competition. On Sunday, only Kamil Majchrzak will play among the Poles, and later five of his compatriots will play, including Iga Świątek.

Kamil Majchrzak will be the only Polish representative who will play on Sunday, the first day of the main singles competition at the US Open. His opponent in the first round will be Serbian Hamad Medjedović. The first match is scheduled on court number 12. It starts at 17 Polish time. If Majchrzak wins, he will face Lloyd Harris from South Africa or American Jack Kennedy.

US Open. Iga Świątek will play in the night session

The performance of Iga Świątek arouses the greatest interest of Polish fans. The 2022 US Open winner, seeded number eight, will start the tournament with a meeting with China’s Xiyu Wang.

Iga Świątek’s match will take place at Louis Armstrong Stadium and will open the Monday evening session. Start at 7 p.m. New York time, i.e. at 1 a.m. from Monday to Tuesday in Poland.

Chwalińska and Hurkacz learned the match times

Maja Chwalińska, finalist of this year’s French Open, will also play on Monday. Her rival at Grandstand will be American Taylor Townsend. The match was scheduled as the second one, after the match starting at 17 Polish time.

Hubert Hurkacz will also play second – on court number 12 he will face Bosnian Damir Džumhur. According to the official plan, the fight will not start before 20 Polish time.

Polish clash already in the second round?

Magdalena Fręch and Magda Linette are still waiting to perform. Fręch faced 14th-seeded American Iva Jovic, while Linette will play against British qualifier Francesca Jones.

If both Poles win their first matches, they will face each other in the next round. Poland would then have a guaranteed representative in the third round.

Sabalenka and Alcaraz defend their titles

Martyna Kubka, Linda Klimovicova, Katarzyna Kawa and Maks Kaśnikowski did not make it through the qualifications. The titles are defended by Aryna Sabalenka and Carlos Alcaraz, who is returning after a four-month break caused by injury.

The US Open women’s final will take place on September 12. The champion of the men’s tournament will be announced a day later.
