The Polish national volleyball team won silver medals during the games in Paris. Bartłomiej Bołądź revealed in Wezdrowie what the actual form of the team was.
Coach Nikola Grbic’s team achieved great success during the Olympic Games in Paris. Poles became Olympic vice-champions. Paris 2024: Bartłomiej Bołądź on the form of the national team at the Olympics
Bołądź was one of three attackers taken to Paris by the Polish coach. Apart from the club’s player from Warsaw, these were Łukasz Kaczmarek and the national team captain, Bartosz Kurek.
Could Poles reach for gold in Paris? Bołądź in the text by Jakub Radomski left no major doubts. It must be admitted that the attacker presented the matter exceptionally honestly.
– The French were better. From the pitch you could feel that it was their day. It happened that we were leading by two points, but in moments when the Americans could have broken, the French kept pushing to win. Today I think that we should be very happy with this silver. Honestly? The truth is that you, journalists, probably saw it too, that we were a bit out of shape in Paris. Several boys had health problems and we didn’t look very interesting in volleyball. In Tokyo, the boys were in much better shape, and yet they did not make it through the quarterfinals. That’s why we should be happy about this success, and it should give a big boost to the entire Polish volleyball team – said Bołądź for Wesło.
The Polish national volleyball team wins its second medal in the history of the Olympic Games!
After 48 years, Polish volleyball players played again for the gold of the Olympic tournament. In the French capital, in the group phase, the White and Reds defeated Egypt 3-0, defeated Brazil 3-2 and lost 1-3 to Italy.
In the quarterfinals, the Poles defeated Slovenia, breaking the “curse” of the volleyball team losing the next five quarterfinal matches since the 2004 Olympics. The semi-final was an extraordinary battle, lasting over 2.5 hours, after which the Poles defeated the Americans 3:2. In the final, the White and Reds lost 0:3 to France.
It is worth recalling that the only medal in the history of the Polish men’s team was won by the national team in 1976. It was the legendary gold of coach Hubert Wagner’s team. The Poles won the match for the title of Olympic champions 3:2 against the Soviet Union.
The team, led by coach Nikola Grbic, won its second Olympic medal in history. This only shows the scale of the result in Paris.
