Strong words from Adam Małysz before TCS. The Polish ski jumping team has no chance?

The 73rd Four Hills Tournament starts next Saturday (December 28). Adam Małysz is not particularly optimistic about the possible successes of the Polish national team.
The best Pole in the current World Cup season is Aleksander Zniszczoł. So nothing has changed in terms of what happened in the last campaign. In the general classification, Zniszczoł takes 18th place, having 144 points.
Adam Małysz about the hardware advantage of the Austrians and Germans
The Polish national team is far from the times when Polish jumpers dealt the cards and shared the most important titles among themselves. Currently, it is difficult for Poles to even reach the top ten of the competition.
What are the reasons for this? The ongoing generational change, the former leaders – i.e. the trio – Kamil Stoch, Dawid Kubacki and Piotr Żyła – have not been able to return to the top for a long time. Coach Thomas Thurnbichler must therefore look for solutions that will give hope for both the present and the future.
Additionally, apart from the sporting potential itself, Polish ski jumping has to face… competition with better equipment. Adam Małysz, a legend of world ski jumping, currently the helmsman of the Polish Ski Association, talked about the backstage.
– We lose a lot in terms of hardware. I talked to Alex Stoeckl, who analyzed everything a lot with the coaches and they see that especially the Germans and Austrians have an advantage over the rest when it comes to suits. (…) That’s what coaches say, and in fact, Germans and Austrians are the producers of the best materials – admitted the president of PZN in Onet and “Przegląd Sportowy”.
Unfortunately, these words do not sound very optimistic in the context of hopes for a big surprise by the Polish ski jumper in relation to the upcoming TCS…
73rd Four Hills Tournament. Where and when to watch the competition?
The most prestigious cycle of each season of the Ski Jumping World Cup will begin this Saturday, i.e. December 28. We are, of course, talking about the Four Hills Tournament. This will be the 73rd edition of this unique competition. The competition is traditionally held on four ski jumping hills: two in Germany (Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen) and two in Austria (Innsbruck and Bischofshofen).
In the history of this competition, Kamil Stoch has won three times (he was not included in the team at Oberstdorf), the last time in the 2020/21 season.
Dawid Kubacki, the winner of the 2019/20 edition and the runner-up of the classification in the 2022/23 edition, also looks good on the TCS all-time list, behind the then great Noweg Halvor Egner Granerud.
The first competition of the 73rd TCS will be held in Oberstdorf. Official training (2:00 p.m.) and qualifying (4:30 p.m.) are planned for Saturday (i.e. December 28). A day later, a trial series (3:00 p.m.) and a competition (4:30 p.m.). The World Cup competition, including TCS, can be watched on TVN, Eurosport and the MAX platform.
