Strikes in hotels at Easter. Do tourists have anything to fear?

The future of tourists in Spain during Easter remains uncertain. Hotel employees on one of the islands have still not signed an agreement.
Will there be strikes this weekend in Tenerife? Tourists still do not have a clear answer regarding planned protests of hotel employees. Although on neighboring islands – Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura finally managed to agree with trade unions, the conflict on the largest of the Canary Islands is still uninhabited. What does this mean for foreign guests?
Will protests in Spain take place?
Tuesday should bring an answer, which is waiting for thousands of tourists planning to spend this year’s Easter in Spain. It is this European country that is the most frequently chosen foreign direction for Easter among Poles. Unfortunately, strikes announced for several weeks can thwart dreams of perfect rest in the ministry. The most difficult situation prevails in Tenerife, the only of the Canary Islands, where hotel workers have not yet signed a settlement. Today, another conversation is to take place between the Hotel Industry Trade Union and the Association representing employers. Unfortunately, employed believe that the four percent increase offered is not sufficient, demanding at least a 6 % increase in wages.
Holy Thursday and Good Friday in Spain
Protests are planned for April 17 and 18, i.e. on Holy Thursday and Good Friday, which for the Spaniards are the main dates of Easter celebration. What does this mean for guests? If the strikes planned for weeks will eventually take place, resort customers will certainly not be able to count on the level of service that the facilities guarantee in a normal period on these days. Problems may arise, for example, when checking in, serving meals in a restaurant or cleaning rooms. Despite the protests and the associated shortages of staffing, hotels will still be able to charge tourists.
