Strategic connection. Another important tender for the first nuclear power plant

A tender has been announced for the construction of a road to the planned nuclear power plant. It will run along a completely new route and connect the currently constructed S6 expressway with the power plant. The route will cost over a billion złoty. Preparatory work related to the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Poland began in the spring of this year.

According to the schedule, the first nuclear reactor to be built in the coastal commune of Choczewo will be up and running in 2035. Before that, a lot of complicated – and very expensive – work has to be done. In the spring, the forest was cleared. The photos show its scale.

Geological works in Lubiatów-Choczewo

In mid-April, the Polish Nuclear Power Plants company announced an approved geological works project. Bechtel, a member of the American consortium responsible for the project, is responsible for them. The works started in July and are being carried out on an area of approx. 30 hectares. As part of the actions taken, approx. 220 research points will be made, with depths ranging from approx. 20 to approx. 210 m.

This means difficulties in the Lubiatowo-Choczewo location. Drillings were made near the entrances to the beach no. 44 and 45.

“Two of them will be carried out on the beach, and the remaining two in the technical zone outside the beach. The research holes made – three to a depth of about 40 m and one to a depth of 10 m – and soil analyses will be used to develop geological documentation for the construction of water and sewage infrastructure elements,” said the company Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe, which is responsible for the investment.

Geological work will last until the end of the year. The results of the research will be used to “design the facility (in particular the main construction facilities, i.e. three nuclear power units, the inflow basin and cooling water channels, and the discharge channel for spent cooling water) and to prepare the Location Report, which is the basis for obtaining a building permit.”

Access to the nuclear power plant will be built

GDDKiA has just announced a tender for the design and construction of a national road to the emerging power plant. “The investment will increase the capacity of the communication system, relieve the local road network, and additionally shorten the travel time between the Tri-City and seaside towns in the Choczewo commune,” GDDKiA informed.

The road is being designed along a completely new path and will connect with the currently constructed S6 expressway. “The tender, the details of which will appear on our purchasing platform in a few days, concerns the design and construction of a single-carriageway road, with a cross-section of 1 x 2 in the GP class (main accelerated traffic)” – it was written in the announcement.

The investment was divided into two sections: Lubiatowo – provincial road No. 213 with a length of approx. 11 km and provincial road No. 213 – Łęczyce junction on S6 with a length of approx. 15 km.
