A very popular cafe network, Starbucks, has announced a reduction in workplaces around the world.

The company’s president, Brian Niccol, emphasizes that the changes are aimed at simplifying the organizational structure and increasing management efficiency. However, the exemptions will not cover employees employed in cafes.

According to official information provided by the company, Starbucks strives to create more flexible internal structures.

We simplify the organization, eliminate unnecessary management levels and focus on smaller, more dynamic teams” – wrote Brian Niccol in a message to employees.

The reduction will cover about 7 percent global Starbucks staff, but the exemptions will mainly affect administrative and managerial positions. The cafe service remains untouched by this wave of changes.

Brian Niccol, who took the position of CEO in September last year after passing from the chipotle, realizes a wide -ranging restructuring strategy under the name “Return to Starbucks”. Its key elements are:

  • Menu optimization – simplification of the offer to improve the order process.

  • Shortening the waiting time – changes in customer service so that the service is faster and more efficient.

Despite the reforms implemented, the company recorded a 4 % decrease in sales. In the first quarter of the year, although this result turned out to be less drastic than previous forecasts.

Brian Niccol arouses a lot of emotions among public opinion and employees. Critics pay attention to his very high salary and frequent journeys of a private jet between his house, which is located in California, and the headquarters of Starbucks in Seattle (Washington Stan).
