The most important information is that the space industry is not limited to technical specialists. – This is an unlimited scope, because you do not necessarily have to finish technical studies – emphasizes Colonel Mazur. Of course, directions such as astronautics, aviation, mechanics, electronics and computer science are a natural choice for people interested in working in designing satellites, rocket systems or software. However, the space sector also needs lawyers, architects, management specialists or communication experts and soft skills.
– Today’s times require a lot of soft skills, communication skills, human resource management in managerial positions – adds Mazur.
This means that people with non -technical education, but with strong competences in project management, marketing or almost, also have a chance to find a job in this industry.
Polsa’s cooperation with universities and opportunities for students
The Polish Space Agency actively cooperates with universities, supporting the development of young talents. A student council operates at the president of the agency, which represents most Polish universities. – These people tell us what we should do for students to better understand them, to be closer to them – says Mazur. In return, the agency encourages students to promote the space sector as an attractive workplace.
For young people interested in a career in the space industry, it is crucial to participate in conferences, industry events and internship programs. It is also worth following projects implemented by Polish companies under the European Space Agency (ESA), which opens the door to international competitions and financing.
