Shocking scenes during a sports holiday. “People escaped in panic”
The joy of Liverpool FC’s football triumph in the Premier League turned into a drama when a serious road incident occurred in the city center. The car entered a group of pedestrians celebrating the team’s victory.
Around 18:00 the police in Liverpool received reports of a dangerous event in the heart of the city. As Merseyside Police informed: “It was contacted with us (…) After the car collided with several pedestrian on Water Street.”
The vehicle that hit the crowd was immediately stopped on the spot, and the man driving it was arrested by officers.
The identity of the detainee and his motivations have not yet been disclosed. The police ensure that the case is treated priority.

“We are currently dealing with reports of road collision in the center of Liverpool,” said police representatives. The authorities also assured that “emergency services are currently at the scene of the incident. We will provide more information as soon as we receive it.”
Numerous ambulance units, police and fire brigades immediately appeared on site. Their task was to secure the area, help the victims and determine the circumstances of the incident.
According to local media reports, hundreds of people celebrating Liverpool’s victory after the season were at the time of the accident.
Witnesses described the situation as “terrifying” and “chaotic”. In accounts, information about screams, panic and immediate reaction of random passers -by appears, who rushed to help the victims.
“The car suddenly accelerated and drove into a crowd of people. People shouted and escaped in panic. It was terrifying,” said one of the eyewitnesses. Another person described the scene with the words: “I saw a few people lay on the ground and others tried to help them. It was supposed to be a holiday and turned into a nightmare.”
Anxiety and expectation
The city authorities and security services appealed to keep peace and not interviewed information on social media. Despite the lack of official data on the number of victims, local media reports at least a few wounded people. Some of them were transported to hospitals in medium and heavy states. Doctors remain ready to accept more victims, and medical services work in emergency mode.
The Prime Minister of Great Britain has been informed about the event and is to follow the development of the situation on an ongoing basis. Local authorities declare full cooperation with law enforcement agencies and emergency services. The spokesperson of the city of Liverpool emphasized that the priority is now helping the victims and ensuring security residents.

Liverpool FC also reacted to tragic events. The club in a statement expressed “deep concern and compassion for the victims and their families”, declaring full cooperation with law enforcement agencies.
“What was supposed to be a day of joy for our community turned into a tragedy. We are thoughts with everyone that this event affected,” said FC Liverpool in a communication.
Investigation and ambiguities
The investigation into the accident is conducted by Merseyside Police, who appeals to witnesses to report and sharing recordings from the scene. At this stage, it is not yet known whether the incident was a deliberate attack or the result of the tragic error or mental state of the driver.
