Shocking CEV survey. PlusLiga club president reacts

On Tuesday, the draw for the knockout phase of the Champions League and other European competitions took place. The CEV asked the fans an unusual question, not including the Poles.

Currently, the final preparations of the volleyball teams for the Olympic Games in Paris are underway. The draw for the groups of the European cups took place somewhat in the shadow of this. In the most important ones – the Champions League and the Champions League – we have a total of five teams. As for the women, these are DevelopRes Rzeszów and BKS BOSTIK ZGO Bielsko-Biała. Among the men, we will be represented by Jastrzębski Węgiel, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie and Projekt Warszawa.

Kryspin Baran reacts to shocking survey

We are counting on success in club volleyball, especially in the case of men. After all, ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle won the Champions League three times in a row between 2021 and 2023. Jastrzębski Węgiel took part in the last two finals.

That is why the behavior of the CEV (European Volleyball Federation) is embarrassing. Namely, a survey was published on the organization’s profile, in which the following question was asked: “Which clubs are the favorites to win European trophies among women and men?”. There would be nothing strange about it, if not for the fact that the answers appeared in the survey. These were, respectively: Italian clubs, Turkish clubs and teams from other countries. Everyone was surprised why Polish teams were not included separately.

“A fascinating CEV survey” – this is how Kryspin Baran, president of Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, spoke about the subject. Project Warsaw volleyball player Andrzej Wrona admitted, however, that the way the CEV formulated its response shows the hierarchy and our place in this organization. It is not the first time that Poland has been treated incomprehensibly by the European Volleyball Federation.

Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie mocked CEV

It didn’t take long for the Zawiercie residents to react to the CEV’s behavior. On Tuesday, the club’s profile on the X platform changed its name to: “Club from another country”, which translates to: “club from another country”.

Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie will play in Group C of the Champions League. The Polish vice-champions will play against the Italian Allianz Milano, the Belgian Knack Roeselare and the winning team from the qualifiers (no Polish representatives there).
