Sharp words about national mourning after the death of the Pope. “There is nothing stupid”

Jarosław Królewski

President Andrzej Duda announced that the day of the funeral of Pope Francis – i.e. Saturday, April 26 – will be a day of national mourning in Poland. What about football matches?

Sports events canceled this Saturday? This is a scenario that is not excluded due to the decision that was made on Tuesday from President Andrzej Duda. I am talking about the national mourning designated for the day of the funeral of Pope Francis. The ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, i.e. on April 26.

President of Wisła Kraków clearly about the translation of matches. The case concerns mourning

As is the case with these types of situations, supporters and opponents will find – both mourning – and whether the events (e.g. sports) are to be canceled. Jarosław Królewski, the president of the football Wisła Kraków, took a clear position. Known for his social media activity, he wrote on Tuesday, late afternoon, which he thinks about the perspective of the league queue superior.

“With all due respect – there is nothing stupid than the translation of queues of the 1st league and league, and other events, due to the announced national mourning. This political/other correctness and lack of authenticity begins to be grotesque” – wrote on platform X president of the first league from Krakow.

Let’s add that Wisła will play his next match on Friday (i.e. April 25) away in Nieciecza. In this respect, the Krakow club would not have to worry about the translation if only Saturday was involved. Such a solution was decided, among others In the Italian Serie A, where Saturday matches were postponed to Sunday.

However, the situation may be different if the entire queue was translated, be it on the PKO BP Ekstraklasa or Betclic 1st league. This can cause a lot of confusion in the already well -tight calendar of games.

As for Saturday itself, looking only at football fields in Poland, at this highest level, three first league matches are planned (Lechia Gdańsk – Piast Gliwice, Motor Lublin – Cracovia, GKS Katowice – Legia Warsaw) and the same number of first league (Warta Poznań – Kotwica Kołobrzeg, GKS Tychy – Polonia Warsaw, Pogoń Siedlce – ARK Gdynia).

It is worth adding that under the royal entry there were a lot of entries, supporting the point of view presented by the president of the Vistula.
