Seven years and the end. The Russian ship disappears from the Polish port

The Russian ship “Khatanga”, which has been mooring in the Gdynia port since 2017, will be removed. The decision on this matter was made by the director of the Maritime Office in Gdynia (UMG).

The unit, withdrawn from operation and technically unable, poses a threat to port infrastructure. The port of Gdynia plans to sell a ship to cover some costs related to its long -term post.

“Khatanga” ship removed by the decision of the Maritime Office

On Thursday, the Ministry of Infrastructure announced that the management of the Port of Gdynia Port (ZMPG) was obliged to remove the Russian tank “Khatanga”. The unit has been mooring in the port since 2017, when it was stopped after non -technical control. Despite the renovation plans, she never left Gdynia.

The technical condition of the ship has been systematically deteriorating. The lack of crew, power supply and the ability to navigate independently meant that the reservoir became a potential threat to the safety of navigation and port infrastructure.

A reservoir without a crew and with an unclear ownership status

According to the spokeswoman of the Maritime Office in Gdynia, Magdalena Kierzkowska, the problem of the “Khatang” ship has been growing over the years. The changes in the owner, lack of contact with the trustee and the bankruptcy of the Murmansk Shipping Company in 2020 made it difficult to resolve the situation.

For many months, the Port of Gdynia sought a decision enabling the unit to be taken out. As the spokeswoman of the ZMPG Kalina Gierblińska explained, the technical and logistics conditions of operations will be established in consultation with the Maritime Office.

The Russian ship can be scrapped

The port authorities emphasize that the unit is not suitable for independent sailing and will probably be scrapped. ZMPG intends to sell a ship to at least partially compensate for overdue stop fees.

Gigantic mooring costs

The Ministry of Infrastructure has announced that the Port Board would demand reimbursement of mooring costs from the Russian shipowner. The fees for the “khatangi” stop at the port of Gdynia already reach about PLN 13 million.

“Khatanga” broke up several times with CUM

Media information shows that in the past the ship broke up twice, posing a threat to other units in the port.

  • Width: 26 meters

After years of downtime, the Russian reservoir will finally be removed from the port of Gdynia. This decision ends a long -term deadlock and will allow you to solve the problem of an unused ship.
