Today, the entire “environment” is talking about this young angler, only 13 years old. The young man caught a huge specimen of Hippoglossus hippoglossus. How much did the fish weigh?

The boy was fishing from the deck of a charter boat. He dreamed of aggressive predators – for this purpose he hooked a pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus) and immersed it in water.

But the fish, which found itself in the depths, attracted a nearby Atlantic halibut.

A 13-year-old caught a giant halibut. The fish didn’t give up for a long time

The young enthusiast comes from New Hampshire. He and the crew of the American Classic boat found themselves about a hundred miles off the coast of a state in the northeastern part of the United States.

When he dipped the hook with pollock bait into the water, after only a minute and a half a halibut grabbed it – and not just any halibut, because the specimen was of enormous size. He weighed as much as 177 pounds (close to 80.3 kilograms). It is worth adding that the 13-year-old himself weighs much less – 120 pounds (about 55 kg).

Outdoorhub.com describes how the young man “for 30 grueling minutes refused all help from experienced crew members and other anglers” who wanted to help him get the fish on board. “No, I want to catch him myself,” the 13-year-old replied each time firmly.

A new world record was broken? The young angler submitted an application, the decision rests with the international organization

He finally managed to bring H. hippoglossus to the surface. Here, the help of the adult men who surrounded him on board was necessary – the fish was too large and heavy for the 13-year-old to be able to pull it on board on his own.

According to outdoorhub.com, the event is probably a new world record among juniors – in the category of catching Atlantic halibut. The International Sport Fishing Association is currently considering the young man’s application for recognition of his achievement.

The website editors remind that the previous record in the H. hippoglossus category is 130 pounds (close to 59 kg). This means that the young enthusiast has done something truly amazing.
