Sebastian Świderski is harsh on the Polish national team. The president of the PZPS did not bite his tongue

It was a very surprising decision of the volleyball player, who in recent years had been a regular member of the Polish national team led by coach Nikola Grbic. However, Norbert Huber decided to resign from playing in the 2026 season in the red and white colors, which he informed both the coach himself and the public (social media post), moments before the official announcement of the full squad list.

It must be admitted that the president of the Polish Volleyball Association took a strong stance in the context of Norbert Huber’s absence from the team. Sebastian Świderski does not understand the way in which this was handled by a titled representative, such as the Olympic vice-champion (2024).

– I felt cheated! If someone decides to make such a move half an hour before the team is announced, they are either holding on to something until the last minute and didn’t want to talk about it, or there is a deeper meaning that we don’t know about yet. He also criticized coach Grbic and other players who decided to wear the national team shirt this season. For me it was always an honor to play with the eagle on my chest. I never ran away from it. I can’t understand this. If we are talking about family situations, okay, then no problem. He knew what the situation was with his health and family, although he talked to the coach many times, he did not decide to resign earlier and this is a very strange way of informing me, just before the press conference – said the president of the Polish Football Association, quoted on X by Mateusz Ligęza from Radio ZET.

Świderski is not alone in his thoughts. Huber certainly did not gain recognition in the eyes of coach Grbic with this method of resignation. The coach, who, after receiving information from the volleyball player, met with journalists at a specially organized media meeting, did not hide his emotions.

The Serb has also shown several times that he relies on proven people in the national team. And if he loses trust in any player, his subsequent form in club competitions has nothing to do with call-ups. Bartosz Kwolek, who has been omitted from the national team for several years, may be such a case. Will Huber join this group, considering the emotions surrounding his resignation in mid-April this year?
