Scientists discovered an exceptional snail at the banks of California. He is the first representative of a kind, floating at depths from 1000 to 4000 meters below sea level.
In principle, sea snails spend most of their lives at the bottom of the ocean. They only swim in exceptional situations. Bathydevius Caudactylus, described in December last year, is almost all the time. It is not drowning or emerging, it is suspended freely in the water. Experts believe that his body density is similar to the density of sea water.

This new species is also distinguished by the fact that it has been found so far only between 1000 and 4000 meters under sea level. This is probably the first known sea snail, living only in water tons at such depths.
