There was a scandal during a 5th league match in Gdańsk. In the second half, a group of masked people burst into the stands, tore down the flag of visiting fans and mauled several people, including a 14-year-old boy.

On Saturday, during the 5th league match between Stoczniowiec Gdańsk and Sokół Bożepole Wielkie, a scandalous incident occurred, reported by RMF FM. The hooligans ran onto the pitch and tore down the visiting team’s flag, in the process beating up several visiting fans. Among the injured is a 14-year-old boy.

A masked group attacked fans at a V league match

The incident occurred around the 64th minute of the match. As reported by an RMF FM reporter, a group of masked people ran into the stadium and attacked several Sokół Bożepole Wielkie fans who were hanging out their club’s flag. – The flag was hanging, they ran up, pushed them, tore (the flag) off and started beating them there – Sebastian Rogksz, vice-president of the Sokół Bożepole Wielkie club, told RMF FM.

According to an RMF FM reporter, two people, including a 14-year-old child, went to the hospital for examination. They did not suffer any serious injuries. An adult with a disability was also allegedly attacked.

The match was interrupted. Even though the judges and the union representative wanted to resume the meeting, Sokół’s representatives did not agree to it. – It was a bit of an exaggeration for us that somewhere boys were being kicked in the head and we were supposed to be playing football next to them as if nothing had happened – Rogksz continued.

The official profile of Stoczniowiec also announced the incident on social media. The administrators who run it assure that the attackers had no connection with the host team.

“The match was interrupted in the 64th minute. A group of teenagers, having nothing to do with Stoczniowiec, broke into the stands, tore down the Sokół flag and mauled two people… We have no words of disapproval for such behavior,” we read. “Despite the recommendation of the referee and observer that the match should be finished, the visiting team left the pitch. Even though the police showed up at the facility and there was no threat to the players’ health. The referee had no other choice and ended the match with the score 1-0 for Stoczniowiec,” it was added. “Such situations have never happened at our stadium before. Further decisions will be made by the relevant union bodies,” we read in the statement.

Police: Among the injured were 14-year-old girls

In an interview with RMF FM, the Pomeranian police confirmed the case. Officers confirmed that among the injured who went for examination was a 14-year-old boy. Two 31-year-old men also reported to the police station as victims.

There were no police at the match. – The applicable regulations do not oblige police officers to secure V league matches. It is the responsibility of the organizer of this type of sports event to ensure safety. As soon as the police received information that there had been a beating at a V-league club match and the perpetrators had fled the scene, the officer on duty directed police officers to the spot – said RMF FM Asst. pcs. Mariusz Chrzanowski from the Gdańsk police.

Now the officers are securing and reviewing the recordings from surveillance cameras and interviewing witnesses in order to determine the exact course of events. They also check whether the organizers made every effort to secure the match.
