Scandal at the Collegium Humanum. The former and current rector of three universities were detained
Three more people were detained in connection with the investigation into illegal trade in diplomas by Collegium Humanum.
Officers of the Regional Office of the Central Anticorruption Bureau in Rzeszów are conducting a multi-threaded investigation into the activities of an organized criminal group which, in exchange for receiving material and personal benefits, issued documents related to the completion of studies and MBA diplomas entitling to sit on supervisory boards of companies with State Treasury participation.
The press spokesman of the Minister of Coordination of Special Services, Jacek Dobrzyński, announced the arrests.
“Further arrests in connection with the investigation into the illegal trade in diplomas by Collegium Humanum,” he wrote. He recalled that the proceedings are being conducted by the CBA together with the Silesian Branch of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor's Office in Katowice.

The CBA detained three men.
“Among them is Andrzej K., former rector of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Częstochowa, as well as two current rectors of private universities, i.e. Waldemar U. from the University of Humanities TWP in Szczecin and Marek W. from the University of Management Personnel in Konin,” the spokesman said. The allegations concern the giving of financial benefits to the director of the Polish Accreditation Committee.
On March 15, the CBA reported the arrest of two people in connection with illegal trade in diplomas by the private university Collegium Humanum.
At that time, among those detained was a person performing public functions in the Polish Accreditation Committee, who, taking advantage of his position and relying on his influence, demanded and then accepted a financial benefit in the total amount of PLN 450,000.00. In exchange for positive decisions for the university, Collegium Humanum accepted a personal benefit in the form of employing close relatives.
Another detained person was an employee of a private university who, acting jointly and in concert, accepted a financial benefit in the total amount of over PLN 275,000.00 and a personal benefit in the form of employment at the university.
