The Chief Sanitary Inspector (GIS) has issued an important warning. The message concerns popular sauces from a well-known brand. One group of people should be especially careful with these products.

The Chief Sanitary Inspector has decided to withdraw three popular sauces from sale. This decision is related to information provided by Nestlé Polska SA. The products have been found to contain a compound that may be very dangerous for a certain group of people.

Withdrawn sauces – product details

The decision of the Chief Sanitary Inspector concerns Winiary brand sauces. The warning provided by GIS provides more information on individual products:

WINIARY Bolognese Sauce (500 g):

  • batch no. 240423B/1, minimum durability date 04.2026

  • batch no. 240423C/1, minimum durability date 04.2026

WINIARY Tomato sauce for spaghetti (500 g):

  • batch no. 240422A/1, minimum durability date 04.2026

  • batch no. 240422B/1, minimum durability date 04.2026

WINIARY American BBQ sauce with burnt sugar syrup (348 g)

  • batch no. 240420A/1, minimum durability date 04.2025

  • batch no. 240421A/1, minimum durability date 04.2025

The manufacturer of the indicated batches is Nestlé Polska SA with its registered office at Domaniewska 32 in Warsaw. The company has already taken the necessary steps to withdraw the above-mentioned products from sale. It has also issued a special message to customers.

Why were Winiary sauces withdrawn from sale?

As reported by Nestlé Polska SA, the reason for the withdrawal of Winiary sauces from sale is the unintentional presence of gluten in one of the raw materials used in the production process. “Their consumption may have an adverse effect on people with gluten intolerance or wheat allergy. These products do not have information on the presence of gluten on their labels. We recommend that consumers with gluten intolerance or wheat allergy do not consume the above products as a precaution,” we read in the released message. What are the symptoms of gluten intolerance and wheat allergy?

Gluten intolerance and wheat allergy have similar symptoms. The most common symptoms include:
