Ryanair has introduced changes to baggage measurement. Tourists will be shocked
Ryaniar has introduced something that will surprise tourists. It is more modern, but more difficult and less comfortable. Instead of the carrier’s classic sizers, completely new models have appeared.
Luggage measuring tapes or sizers are well-known elements of airlines. They are placed at airports so that tourists can check whether a given backpack, suitcase or handbag meets the required dimensions. This way, you can avoid disappointment just before boarding the plane and feel more confident. Ryanair sizers have sometimes caused passengers a lot of problems. Now it is going to be even worse.
Ryaniar has introduced new luggage measuring tapes
Ryanair has installed new measuring tapes in Berlin. They work completely differently than the previous ones and, interestingly, it is much easier to fail to meet the requirements. Until now, it was obvious that as long as the backpack was not stuffed to the last centimetre, it could easily fit into the carrier’s measuring tape. However, this practice may end.
The new sizers have a display connected to a scale on top. This allows Ryanair staff to easily weigh any baggage, including at the boarding gate, and not just at the check-in desk, as before. Some traditional airlines have had scales before, but Ryanair has something new.
This is changing Ryanair
The introduction of scales is not everything. Ryanair has eliminated metal containers in which we put measured luggage. Until now, they had five walls and it was easy to squeeze a backpack in so that it still did not protrude beyond the permitted dimensions. In the new version, there are only three walls, and the luggage cannot extend beyond the outline reproduced on the back wall of the measuring tape.
Passengers can now only place their luggage on a metal shelf and hope that it will stay between the lines. You can see what the new sizers look like on the @fly4free.pl Instagram profile, among others. The recording clearly shows that now we only have the outline of the dimensions in the image, instead of the previously known container. It should be remembered that in the price of a regular ticket we are only entitled to one small piece of hand luggage not exceeding the dimensions of: 40 × 25 × 20 cm. In the case of the Priority option, it can be: 55 × 40 × 20 cm.
The new measuring tapes are currently only in use at Berlin Brandenburg Airport, but there is a high probability that we will soon see them in other locations as well.
