Russians trade in Poland at their best. They have their own chain of stores
Formerly Mere, today Myprice. The Russian retail chain returned to Poland two years after the boycott, trying to gain customers under a new brand.
More than two years after closing Mere stores in Poland, the Russian discount chain returns under a new brand – Myprice. The first stores of this brand appeared in the summer of 2024 in Siedlce and Oleszewo-Borki in Masovia. According to information from the website Wiadomoscihandlowe.pl, the owners of the chain – brothers Andriej and Siergiej Szneider – decided to rebrand in order to distance themselves from the negative image associated with Mere’s previous operations.
A silent return. Why does Myprice avoid publicity?
Unlike previous marketing activities, Myprice’s new strategy is almost complete media silence. The lack of promotion in the media is intended to hide the company’s Russian roots, which is crucial after the wave of boycott that the Mere brand experienced in Poland in connection with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Although the name has changed, the same company is behind the new network – Torgservis PL. In the documents, Sergei Shneider is listed as a citizen of Grenada with tax residence in Hungary, which further masks the operator’s Russian origins.
Myprice. PRL decor and low prices
Myprice’s new trading strategy is based on the same assumptions as before: extremely low prices achieved at the expense of minimalist decor. The stores have a raw appearance. The specific display of products and the lack of aesthetics are intended to emphasize their functionality, not style.
Myprice expansion. Warsaw and other cities
Despite its reluctance to publicity, the Myprice chain plans to expand in Poland. Job advertisements appear on the Internet, indicating the opening of further sales points, including: in Warsaw. Myprice introduces solutions known from Mere, but under a different name, hoping that Polish customers will forget about the network’s Russian roots.
