Russia changes tactics. Expert: They want to regain the initiative in the fights

The Russians want to regain lost positions in the Kharkiv region. To achieve this, they have adopted a new tactic. Tanks and armored vehicles have been brought to the scene, whose task will be to overcome the Ukrainian defense.

The situation in the Kharkiv region, in the eastern part of Ukraine, is becoming increasingly tense. The Russians are trying to regain the initiative and positions taken over by the Ukrainian army. Oleksandr Borodin, spokesman for the 3rd Separate Air Assault Brigade, which is fighting in this section of the front, spoke about the situation in this region on Radio Ukraine.

As Borodin explained, as quoted by the portal “Interia”, so far Russian attacks have been carried out using small groups of infantry, which have been constantly attacking Ukrainian fortifications. Now heavy equipment has been brought to the site.

– If previously the enemy acted mainly on attrition, using infantry attacks supported by artillery and FPV drones, which could last for months, almost every day, now they use armored vehicles and tanks. This means that they feel how important it is for them to regain positions, Borodin explained.

According to Borodin, the Russian military is primarily interested in regaining the initiative in this region, and recapturing lost positions, including the city of Volochansk, is of secondary importance. Borodin also believes that the small settlement of Borovoy will be of key importance for the Russians during military operations.

– The town of Borowa is still one of the important elements, because it is both a logistics hub and, in a sense, an opportunity to make a springboard for further actions. I think they see that there are no other options than using full-fledged mechanized units – he said.

Sikorski appeals to NATO

During his September visit to Ukraine, which took place after the missile attack on Lviv, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski once again appealed to NATO leaders to speed up arms deliveries to that country.

– Once again I appeal to the leaders of the free world, to the North Atlantic Alliance, to speed up the delivery of weapons, especially anti-aircraft and anti-missile. This is really very urgently needed.
