RTV subscription for liquidation? The government is planning a new fee for all Poles

The government is planning a RTV subscription reform, which has been controversial for years and has low download. The new proposal assumes Automatic collection of audiovisual fee with income taxwhich means that it will cover much more people than the current system.

Current RTV subscription rates

At the moment, monthly fees are:

• PLN 8.70 for a radio receiver,
• PLN 27.30 for a TV.

A new fee instead of a RTV subscription – who will pay more?

This means:

• A couple of spouses will pay PLN 216 a year,
• Family with two adult children – PLN 432 a year,
• A lonely person – PLN 108 a year.

Who will be released from the new fee?

As in the case of the RTV subscription, the government is planning exemptions for selected groups. Audiovisual fees will not have to pay:

• unemployed,

• people earning below the minimum wage,

• Pensioners and seniors over 75 years old,

• people with disabilities,

• Students and students up to 20 years old.

Controls and penalties – what threatens for non -payment?

For now, the old system is in which Poczta Polska checks that RTV receivers are registered. If the controller finds no fees, he may impose a penalty in the amount PLN 819or equivalent 30 times the monthly subscription rate.
