Robert Makłowicz was delighted with this island. We will find sandy beaches there

Korčula, wyspa w Chorwacji

A cruise during the holidays in Croatia is an attraction in itself. From two popular towns you can go to the island called “little Dubrovnik”, with beautiful architecture and sandy beaches.

Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar – if you have already visited these places sometimes during a vacation in Croatia, it is worth considering one of her islands. Tourists may interest a beautiful place, which is called “little dubrovnik”.

Defensive walls and sandy beaches in Croatia

Korčula (Polish Korczula) is one of the most green and sunny Dalmatian islands. It is sometimes compared to Dubrovnik due to the surrounding defensive walls and the monuments hidden in them – including Canaleć tower.

Although picturesque bays and crystal clear water is a hallmark of this country, it also has sandy beaches that are not typical for it.

Korcul’s story was already familiar with the well -known traveler Robert Makłowicz in his program. “It is absolutely beautiful here, and think how many similarly beautiful places are in Dalmatia itself,” he encouraged.

In itself, a cruise to the island will be a great memory. The easiest way to get to it by ferry or a water taxi – to the dominka or Vela Luka ferry port. We will reach Dominka from Orebić, and to Vela Luka by ferry. However, traveling from this second city will take longer up to three hours.

After swimming, we are looking for a sandy beach. One of them is located 15 minutes by car from the Old Town. This is Vela Pržina in the small fishing village of Lumbard, with the only sandy beaches on Korčula. Water in the sea is relatively warm here throughout the year, and the inhabitants happen to bathe in it even in November.

Families with children also go to Bilin Žal – the water in this place is shallow, so you can cool there, even if we can’t swim. Murek will allow you to shelter in the shade.

Away from the crowds

Korcula is a beautiful, but quite popular tourist place. In Croatia, we will also find much calmer towns that are waiting for the discovery.

A good idea for a trip outside the beaten trail will be, for example, Varaždin. The place is described as the “baroque secret of this country”, which allows almost time traveling.
