Robert Lewandowski’s fate hangs in the balance. There was a meeting in Barcelona
It seems that these are key weeks in terms of Robert Lewandowski’s future. Will the Pole continue to stay at FC Barcelona?
Let us recall that Robert Lewandowski arrived in the capital of Catalonia in the summer of 2022. At that time, the Pole was one of the leading strikers in the world, being the undisputed star of Bayern Munich and the entire German Bundesliga.
Will Robert Lewandowski leave FC Barcelona? These are decisive weeks!
In terms of position among strikers in the world, little has changed since RL9 joined Barca. First of all, we are talking about a player who is 37 years old today and has been struggling with injury problems for some time. Mostly, “Lewy” misses training and official matches of the Spanish champions due to recurring problems with his left thigh. The injury related to this part of the Pole’s leg also appeared now, i.e. after the October international break.
FC Barcelona has more and more doubts about entering into another contract with RL9. Lewandowski’s contract expires in June 2026. Therefore, the Pole can initial a contract with a new employer in January, half a year before the expiry of the current contract with Barca.
They know this in Catalonia, where there is more and more talk about negotiations regarding the Pole. More precisely, leaning more towards “no” towards another contract initialing and the prospect of leaving a goal-scoring striker in their ranks.
However, in the last dozen or so hours an important meeting took place in Catalonia. The Pole’s agent, the famous Pini Zahavi, came to Barcelona. It was he who was responsible for Lewandowski’s move from Munich to the capital of Catalonia, which initially few people could believe. Is now the time for successful negotiations regarding the Pole’s future in Barcelona? It’s hard to say for sure. However, Joan Laporta certainly met with “Lewy’s” agent, which was confirmed by local journalists who follow the life associated with such giants as FC Barcelona.
It is worth recalling that the second Pole in Barca’s ranks, Wojciech Szczęsny, extended his contract by two years this summer, until the end of the 2026/27 season. In this case, however, we are talking about preconceived arrangements, i.e. the Polish goalkeeper is to be a reserve, supporting the new number one, Joan Garcia. Lewandowski’s case is a bit more complex. Especially since large clubs, such as the Italian AC Milan, are asking about the Pole.
