Robert Lewandowski scored again in the Champions League! See the Pole’s goals

Robert Lewandowski

The counter of goals scored by Robert Lewandowski in the Champions League continues to count. The Pole scored another goal, this time in the match in Belgrade.

Interestingly, Robert Lewandowski could smile before Wednesday’s match in Belgrade, recalling his previous visit to Serbia. While still a Bayern Munich player, when his coach was… Hansi Flick, he scored four goals in just 14 minutes in the RL9 Champions League! It took place between the 53rd and 67th minute of the match, and the Bavarians defeated the hosts 6-0. It was 2019. The Pole returned to the Red Star stadium after five years to enchant Serbian fans again.

Champions League: Robert Lewandowski with another goal!

It is worth recalling that the Pole scored his 97th goal in the Champions League in the hit in which Barcelona faced Bayern Munich in the previous series. The Spaniards defeated the Bavarian giant on their home soil 4:1, and one of the goals was scored by a Pole. “Lewy” is a former great scorer for Bayern in the years 2014-22.

Goal number 98 was a typical sniper’s nose by Lewandowski. The Pole scored 2-1, behaving consciously in the hosts’ penalty area. RL9 benefited from a good, juicy shot by Raphinha, keeping his cool and converting the ball that bounced off the left goal post.

That wasn’t the last thing Lewandowski said in terms of goals. The Pole scored his number 99 goal in the Champions League in the 53rd minute. This time, RL9 was in the right place after a great ball across goal from Jules Kounde. Interestingly, the Pole could have scored a goal a moment earlier, but in an ideal position he missed.

Ultimately, Barcelona defeated the Serbian club (5:2), and Lewandowski spent 77 minutes on the pitch. Coach Flick changed his ace, preventing him from reaching 100 goals in the Champions League that evening. However, you can almost be convinced that this barrier in the case of RL9 will break at the next opportunity.

Interestingly, contrary to predictions from a few days ago, Wojciech Szczęsny started the match in Belgrade on the bench. After signing a contract with the LaLiga leader, the Polish goalkeeper has not yet had the opportunity to play in an official match. The Pole joined the Catalan legend after resuming his career.

Previously, for many years, Szczęsny, apart from his duties related to the Polish national team, played on the Apennine Peninsula. First as the goalkeeper of AS Roma, and then at Juventus, replacing Gianluigi Buffon.

“Lewy’s” goalscoring achievements this season for FC Barcelona

Lewandowski shines in the current campaign in the colors of the Pride of Catalonia. In the LaLiga season, the Pole scored 14 goals in 12 matches, adding two assists. For comparison, in the 2023/24 version of the Spanish league, Lewandowski scored 19 goals and added eight assists in 35 matches. There are many indications that this will be a much better season for the Pole than what happened last year for Barca.
