Robert Lewandowski saved honor. This playing national team cannot be watched

There was not much optimism, looking at the events of 2024, when it comes to the Polish football team. Although Poles were promoted to the European Championships, they dropped out in group competitions – although rivals like Dutch, Austrians or French – they are certainly from a high, European shelf. The team led by coach Michał Probierz, however, also contributed to the Division and the UEFA Nations League. The last group match decided about this, loser at PGE Narodowy 1: 2 with Scotland.

The Polish Football Association, however, decided that there would be no changes as a selector, and the entrusted mission that the Printer undertook will be implemented from A to Z. There were many experiments, but ultimately the selection was to end with the start of the elimination for next year’s World Cup.

If the match with Lithuania was to give some optimism, then, unfortunately, he gave more question marks rather than before it began. Poles dismantled the defensive of the rival, which is currently 142 in the FIFA ranking, in the 81st minute of the meeting. And this is actually only because Robert Lewandowski plays in the national team.

“Lewy” was a bit lucky with hit, because the ball scored a ricochet, but eventually fell into the net, under the crossbar of the Lithuanian goalkeeper. Reserve had a lot of participation in the action, Mateusz Bogusz and Jakub Kamiński.

Let us add that a few minutes earlier Giedrius Matulevicius could defeat Łukasz Skorupski. Only the great intervention of the new number 1 in the frame saved Poles from compromise.

The Polish team looked through the vast majority of the match, like a cluster of players who do not quite know what to play to play their rival. What’s more, already in the first half only a great intervention by Jan Bednarek’s slip of it meant that Lithuanians did not have an ideal situation to take the lead.

Poles only shone in statistics … various throws. However, none of them resulted in anything specific enough to not treat this issue, as a little funny joke. On Monday (i.e. March 24), Poland – Malta, again at PGE Narodowy. After what Lithuanians showed, it seems that visitors from Malta should not assume in advance that in Poland they are not able to break something more than a good impression.

Unfortunately, it seems that the team under the baton of coach Probierz simply does not include any progress. On the contrary, the regression is related to the lack of a team concept for several game variants. Or at least specific, one or two.

Explanation? Coach Prdyk had to deal with problems related to the lack of Piotr Zieliński and Nicola Zalewski. So two players, strongly responsible for the so -called Creation department in the Polish team. However, Lithuanians did not play in the optimal composition. So it seems that this argument can be relatively easy to break.

Let us add that for Lewandowski’s goal with Lithuania was a jubilee hit for the team – number 85.

The Polish national team is fighting for participation in the 10th World Cup in its history

Looking at the history of football World Cup, the Polish national team nine times had the opportunity to take part in the most important international event in football. The World Cup is a holiday in which all continents are involved, which further emphasizes the importance of this unusual, cyclical event.

Poland debuted at the football World Cup in 1938. Then it stood at one match, exactly 1/8 finals and a crazy defeat with Brazil 5: 6, after extra time. Then 1974, the World Cup in Germany, from which the legendary staff under the baton of Kazimierz Górski, brought a medal. Poland was the third strength of the world at the time. Then 1978 without the podium (place 5-8) and again the album of the World Cup, this time with coach Antoni Piechniczek, in Spain (1982). In addition, 1986, where at the World Championships in Mexico, Poles managed to score only one goal in the tournament, ending with the 1/8 final.

Another World Championships with Poles came after a 16 -year break. Coach Jerzy Engel and his team were promoted as the first team from the Old Continent. Ultimately, in South Korea and Japan, it ended with a high disappointment and elimination of Poles in the group stage. This scenario was repeated on the next two World Cup occasions. In Germany (2006) and Russia (2018).

The “group curse” managed to break in Qatar. In 2022, the team of coach Czesław Michniewicz managed to play one match in the knockout phase. However, the Poles lost 1: 3 with the later runners -up in the world, the French.

In total, the balance of Poland at the rank of the World Championships includes 38 matches, 17 wins, 6 draws and 15 failures. When it comes to goals, 49 scored and 50 lost.
