Robert Lewandowski questioned by prosecutor's office. It's about a high-profile case

Robert Lewandowski had a number of visits during his stay in Poland. One of them was an interview at the prosecutor’s office regarding the high-profile diploma scandal.

Robert Lewandowski and the Polish national team begin competing in the Nations League. The captain is a key player in Michał Probierz’s team. The FC Barcelona striker flew to the country before the training camp began to receive the Order of the Smile, as well as to take part in the celebrations of the 65th anniversary of Varsovia, the club whose colours he donned as a junior.

Robert Lewandowski had to appear at the prosecutor’s office

As reported by WP Sportowe Fakty, Lewandowski also had another important meeting. The spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gdańsk, Grażyna Wawryniuk, confirmed that the Polish representative was questioned as a witness in connection with the so-called diploma scandal. The case became famous in 2021, when Zbigniew D., a former chancellor of a private university in Łódź, was detained on suspicion of diploma trading.

In July, Dr. Barbara Mrozińska-Badura shed new light on the case, writing on Twitter that “Robert Lewandowski bought a diploma from a private college in Łódź.” She added that the footballer allegedly passed exams with her, although she only found out about it during the interrogation. In addition to “Lewy,” other footballers are also involved in the case. Jacek Góralski and Arkadiusz Milik have been interrogated.

Robert Lewandowski involved in a high-profile case

Lewandowski’s team does not want to comment on the case for now. Previously, they only confirmed that the FC Barcelona and Polish national team player will appear in the prosecutor’s office. “We have nothing to hide, but we want to maintain a formal path and first answer the prosecutor’s questions,” they were heard saying.

Robert Lewandowski will take part in the match against Scotland on Thursday, September 5 in Glasgow. Michał Probierz’s players also face Croatia three days later.
