Robert Lewandowski had to leave the pitch early. "I felt uncomfortable"

Robert Lewandowski scored a goal against Scotland, but also suffered a minor injury. He spoke about his health.

For the first time in history, the Polish national team won against Scotland away from home. After the first half, Michał Probierz’s team was leading 2-0 after goals by Sebastian Szymański and Robert Lewandowski. In the second half, the Scots made up for the deficit and it seemed that the competition would end in a draw. In the sixth minute of added time, Nikola Zalewski was fouled in the penalty area and he took the penalty, which he converted into a goal.

Lewandowski left the pitch

In theory, Robert Lewandowski should have been in the starting eleven, and that would probably have been the case if the captain of the Polish national team had still been on the pitch. However, in the second half, the 36-year-old was replaced by Adam Buksa. Lewandowski suffered in one of the clashes with the rival.

– I felt discomfort after the fall. Then, from minute to minute, I felt pain from time to time and it bothered me. I knew that if I took the risk, tomorrow or the day after tomorrow it would be even worse. On the other hand, I saw that there were guys ready to play. For the good of the team and for me, the decision was made to make this change. There is nothing great behind it – Lewandowski revealed in an interview with TVP Sport.

Lewandowski happy with the result

Poland won three valuable points in the Nations League table on Thursday. Lewandowski admitted that the team’s shortcomings are still visible, but in this case the result makes up for a lot. Scotland is always a tough ground.

– We start the second half and we create problems for ourselves. It seems that we can’t be too calm, but this victory is important. I know that we achieved it in the last minute, where we were leading 2:0 earlier and it became 2:2. In the second half, there were some nerves for a moment, but at the right moment we calmed down and we dotted the “i” – he added.

At the same time, the team captain emphasized that he should play another match in the national team on Sunday. This time, the white and reds will face Croatia away in the Nations League. Kick-off at 20:45.
