Robert Lewandowski got away from the young star. The exciting fight continues
Robert Lewandowski scored two goals in the match against Sevilla, which are important in the Golden Boot classification. The Pole leaves Erling Haaland.
The match against Sevilla went Robert Lewandowski’s way. In the first half, the Polish striker scored twice in the opposing team’s net. First, he converted a penalty kick to make it 1-0, and then he blocked Raphinha’s shot. By then it was already 3-0. Barcelona ultimately won 5-1, and Lewandowski left the field in the 66th minute. One cannot be surprised by the coach’s decision, because before the Pride of Catalonia there are very important clashes in the Champions League and La Liga, so “Lewy” should have been spared.
Lewandowski got away from Haaland
After 10 league matches, Lewandowski has already scored 12 goals, which is twice as many as the next La Liga scorers – Kylian Mbappe and Ayoze Perez. Throughout the season, the players also fight for points towards the ranking, in which they fight for the Golden Boot. This is an award given to the best scorer in all the top European leagues associated with UEFA. Of course, the conversion factor for a given league is also important in the ranking.
Players playing in the strongest competitions in Europe receive a factor of 2. This means that, for example, Lewandowski already has 24 points. His biggest rival in the fight for the Golden Boot should be Erling Haaland. The Manchester City player has not been scoring goals in the Premier League lately, and this allowed the Pole to get a little better.
Golden Boot classification
Lewandowski is second in the general classification. Only Alex Tamm, who normally plays in the Estonian league, is ahead of him. However, the local games are so specific that they will end soon. There are only four rounds left. Among the top five players from the strongest leagues, we also have the above-mentioned Haaland. The Norwegian is currently four points behind Lewandowski.
Let us recall that during his career, the Polish striker won the Golden Boot twice. He was the top scorer in Europe in the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons.
