Let us remind you that the debut of the Polish striker in the ranks of Chicago Fire, during the 2026 World Cup, was canceled due to… toxic smoke coming from Canada. It was the result of terrible fires that hit a country neighboring the US.

When Lewandowski appeared on the pitch in the match against the current MLS champions, Inter Miami, the Pole did not shine. In the rival’s territory, i.e. sunny (and very humid) Florida, Fire lost 2:3. Another match? Another trip, this time against New York City and… second defeat in a row, this time 1:3.

However, Lewandowski broke through in his third appearance, and the first at the stadium in Chicago. What’s more, against Charlotte FC, the Pole scored a double, being the most important factor in the Fire’s victory (2:1).

RL9 then (i.e. on August 2) received his first MVP statuette of the match. We didn’t have to wait long for the second such distinction. This time, Lewandowski received recognition in the Leagues Cup. The Pole scored the closing goal of Fire’s victory over Mexican Santos Laguna (3:1).

As it turned out, the Pole, according to the organizers, had such a large impact on the team’s success that he was the best player of the entire match (MVP).

Therefore, it seems that the adaptation process in the Fire ranks is rapid in the case of the Pole. Fans of the club from Chicago initially turned up their noses when they saw the Pole’s lack of goals and the simultaneous sale of the team’s current best striker. The Belgian Hugo Cuypers had his value, that’s for sure, but it seems that soon RL9 will be the one they will think about in terms of offense, not only in Chicago itself, but in general – in the competitions where the Fire will play.

As you can see, Lewandowski is still a very solid brand. And in Chicago, Poles should have a lot of comfort.
