Robert Lewandowski and Wojciech Szczęsny stole the show. Tears of Jan Tomaszewski!

Social media went crazy on Monday (i.e. May 11) evening. This is due to the official Barcelona football festival. The pride of Catalonia defended the championship title, sealing the success with a victory (2-0) last weekend in El Clasico over Real Madrid.

Robert Lewandowski and Wojciech Szczęsny stole the show. Poles in Barca colors sat at the very front of the bus in which the team drove through the city. What’s more, the Polish duo received a microphone from Channel Sportowy, thanks to which it was possible to hear what the men were talking about.

Jan Tomaszewski responded to Szczęsny and Lewandowski. Great!

There were plenty of funny moments. One of them was a parody of Jan Tomaszewski by two people from Poland. The medalist of the World Championships (1974) and Olympic Championships (1976) is a permanent expert, commenting on current events – mainly football – but not only. And there is no denying that Lewandowski and Szczęsny often got hit on the head by Tomaszewski.

It must be admitted, however, that “Lewy” and Szczęsny nicely parodied the former great goalkeeper of the Polish national team. Finally, warm greetings to Mr. Janek.

We didn’t have to wait long for a response from the person concerned. Tomaszewski commented on the YouTube channel “Super Express Sport”.

– I’m sorry, but I got emotional. I will repeat once again: colleagues, thank you for treating me as a senior colleague. There are no older, younger, better or worse players in the national team. We all just represent this country. Robert, I remember, I was at that high school prom. I can say one thing: we treat each other as representatives and it is a great event that these boys remember me, what I did 50 years ago. I have a request for Wojtek and Robert: do not end your national team career. In my opinion, a new team is being formed at the moment. Wojtek can position the team at the back, Robert at the front. I hope that they will be in this national team condition until the European Championship finals – admitted the visibly moved “man who stopped England”.

It is worth recalling that “Lewy” has been playing for FC Barcelona since the summer of 2022. During this time, i.e. four seasons, the Pole won the Spanish championship three times.

In total, Lewandowski has as many as 13 championship titles in his career, looking only at the five best leagues on the Old Continent. One more championship can be added to this list – the Polish championship, which “Lewy” won while playing for Lech Poznań.

As for Szczęsny, he joined Barca during the previous season, i.e. 2024/25. As it turned out, the former Polish representative’s comeback from retirement was a great idea, given the problems of the Pride of Catalonia with the number 1 between the posts.

Szczęsny in Barcelona’s colors – in terms of the national championship – has 100% effectiveness. The Pole has won two seasons and two titles as the best team in LaLiga.
