Revolution in ATMs! Complete the phone and pay money
No more card at the ATM? The revolution is coming. We will pay cash with a smartphone, and banks focus on modern technologies and security.
There are big changes at ATMs. Chase Bank, one of the largest banks in the United States, began implementing solutions that will allow you to withdraw cash without using a physical card. The reason for the introduction of new technologies is the desire to increase the security and convenience of customers.
New technology
New ATMs will use NFC technology, enabling payments using a mobile phone. The customer will only have to bring the device closer to the ATM reader and confirm the transaction with the PIN code. This process will work both from Google Pay and Apple Pay.
The bank also announced further innovations – including the use of biometrics. Selected operations, like transfers, will require a face or fingerprint recognition. The devices will be integrated with the mobile application, which will allow you to start or finish the banking operation on the phone. The virtual assistant who will lead the user through the whole process will also be support.
Although the exact date of the introduction of these ATMs has not yet been announced, the changes are to come into force in the near future. Meanwhile, more and more banks are also interested in similar technologies in Poland. The reason is the growing threat from fraudsters.
Methods of criminals
The new method of criminals is the so -called Jackpotting – involves manipulation of the ATM electronics and forcing payments of large amounts. The skimming technique, i.e. the theft of data cards, using special overlays mounted on an ATM is also popular.
Therefore, withdrawals without the use of a card become not only comfortable, but also safe. Customers can use a contactless function or BLIK system. Additional precautions are choosing ATMs located in bank branches and avoiding devices that look unusual.
