Revolut comes to Polish soil. More Blik, less peace for debtors

Revolut

Revolut is getting ready to open a branch in Poland. This means more Blik for customers, but also easier access for bailiffs to money in fintech accounts.

Revolut is preparing to take the next step on the Polish market. Opening a branch in our country will mean not only more local services and deeper cooperation with the banking sector, but also full integration with the national settlement infrastructure. In practice, this will translate into the development of Blik payments and easier access for bailiffs to funds accumulated in the accounts of fintech customers.

Polish branch

In an interview with “Rzeczpospolita”, David Tirado, vice president of Revolut responsible for global development, confirmed that the company is preparing to launch a branch in Poland. He noted that the opening had been considered for a long time, although the company has not yet announced a specific date. He also emphasized that Revolut is satisfied with the results achieved in Poland and wants to “enter deeper and deeper into the market”.

Today, Poland is one of the key markets for British fintech. Revolut has gathered approximately 5 million customers in our country, which puts Poland fourth in the world in terms of the number of users. Part of the USD 13 billion of investments announced until 2027 is to be allocated to the development of operations in Poland.

An important element of this strategy is the further “Polonization” of the offer. One of the pillars is to be the expansion of Blik services – this solution is already used by over 1.9 million Revolut users. Fintech focuses on increasing the availability of this payment method and its better connection with other application functions.

System integration

At the same time, the company announces wider integration with the national banking system. The key change is to be full inclusion in the Ognivo system, which serves, among others, for electronic exchange of information between banks and institutions authorized to conduct enforcement. After such a step, bailiffs will gain simpler and faster access to funds held in Revolut accounts in Poland.

As “Rzeczpospolita” reminds, Revolut is currently the highest valued startup in Europe – its value is estimated at approximately USD 75 billion. The company assumes that by 2027 it will gain 100 million customers around the world. In 2024, fintech generated £790 million in net profit, and according to David Tirado, it is only just starting to make real money from lending activities.

The opening of a branch in Poland, the development of Blik and full integration with Ognivo are intended to strengthen Revolut’s position on one of the most important markets for the company, but at the same time they mean that customer funds will be much more accessible to enforcement authorities.
