Residents of Masovian communes are fighting against a pack of dogs. There is no one to catch the animals

Residents of the communes of Pacyna and Szczawin Kościelny in the Masovian Voivodeship report wild dogs running rampant in their region. These are three German Shepherd dogs that escaped from their owner and became a nuisance to the local population.

Masovia. A pack of wild dogs is terrorizing the area

The animals wander around the area and act like a hunting pack. They have already attacked cats, domestic dogs or bit the tails of cows in the pasture. They even had to pull a young heifer out of a plastic pen, which they had bitten at night.

The mayor of the Szczawin Kościelny commune, Barbara Stępniak, warned residents against pets. “I am asking you to be especially careful. Dogs attack people and animals!” – she wrote in the message. A similar message was also sent by the mayor of the Pacyna commune, Tomasz Klimczak.

Feral dogs have an owner. “Gap in the Law”

Several attempts have been made to catch the dogs, but each one ended in failure. The last time unsuccessful attempts were made to catch the sheepdogs on Sunday, August 16. However, Volunteer Fire Department firefighters using a drone were unable to capture the animals. Even establishing the identity of their owner did not help.

– We know that a resident of Żychlin escaped. He would like to help, but the dogs do not listen to him, said Waldemar Rachubiński, secretary of the Pacyna commune. St. asp. Łukasz Rydzewski from the District Police Headquarters in Gostynin assured that the owner was fined. He also declared his willingness to accept the dogs after catching them.

However, the events in Masovia showed a certain loophole in Polish law. Municipalities are obliged to have contracts for catching stray animals. However, the pack from Żychlin has an owner, and catching it is not easy because there are no units specialized in such tasks.
