RegioJet disappointed passengers. It even loses to PKP Intercity
RegioJet did what passengers feared. This is the end of trips from Warsaw to Krakow for PLN 9.
RegioJet entered the Polish market with momentum and prices that passengers could only dream of in the past. Traveling from Warsaw to Krakow for PLN 9 (the price even included free water) became the new normal. The attractive offer of the Czech carrier even prompted competitors to reduce their rates. However, it seems that the “golden period” of RegioJet travel in Poland is coming to an end. Ticket prices have skyrocketed – now Czechs are more expensive than PKP Intercity.
RegioJet has increased prices
What all the passengers feared happened. RegioJet’s extremely attractive prices on the Krakow-Warsaw route are a thing of the past. There is no point in looking for opportunities on the carrier’s website, which some time ago were displayed on even half of the available connections. Instead of PLN 9, on Saturday, April 11, the fare from Mazovia to Małopolska will be at least PLN 79 (this is the cheapest train of the day, starting from Warsaw at 05:48 – the next train will cost PLN 139). Let us remind you that in this case we are only talking about the cheapest class of travel in the low cost tariff. You have to pay extra for more amenities, which increases the price of the ride – even to a record PLN 249 in Business class.
Similar travel prices
Unfortunately, the higher price of Regiojet does not translate into shorter travel times. The Czech train covers the route in a time similar to that of the fastest IC trains. It is also a few minutes slower than the Pendolino.
Interestingly, low ticket availability is not the reason for high prices. It’s not that the cost of a ticket, like in airlines, increases with interest in a given destination. There are still almost 300 seats available on some RegioJet routes priced at PLN 99 for the cheapest ticket. “With lower brand recognition, more difficult availability of tickets and higher prices, it is currently difficult to find a rational reason to choose to travel with RegioJet,” comments Fly4free.pl.
