Railway tickets not always available. You can’t buy them during these hours

PKP suspends ticket sales every day for a specified period. The reason for the difficulties is a technological break.
Although thanks to the possibility of purchasing train tickets online, we no longer have to worry about the opening hours of ticket offices, online sales are also not available 24 hours a day. It is worth remembering this when preparing for a train trip. Every day, PKP carries out technological works for 45 minutes, during which ticket sales are impossible. Once a month, the technological break lasts longer – 1 hour and 15 minutes.
When does PKP have a technological break?
Sometimes we have a lot of time to plan a train trip, other times we buy tickets at the last minute. This may be particularly problematic not only because seats on popular routes are regularly sold out, but also because of a technological break during which sales are blocked. Every day between 23:45 and 00:30, the possibility of purchasing tickets in all carrier sales channels (website, application and 24-hour station ticket offices) is disabled. Additionally, on the first day of each month, the technological break lasts longer, until 1 a.m.
Additional system interruptions
Sometimes, Polish State Railways need an additional break to improve the operation of the online sales system. The next irregular technological break is to take place this Saturday, September 28, 2024. As we read on the carrier’s website, additional technological breaks will be implemented on that day between 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. and between 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., but they only apply to online sales (the cash registers will operate normally). “In addition, customers who state on the train that they were unable to purchase tickets due to the unavailability of the e-IC system or the application will be able to purchase a ticket without a boarding fee on September 28, 2024 from 00:00 to 08:00. The passenger should contact the conductor before boarding the train in order to purchase a ticket.
