Radical movement in TVP. It was about support for Przemysław Babiarz
As reported by “Przegląd Sportowy Onet”, TVP Sport director Jakub Kwiatkowski was supposed to fire Jakub Polkowski, his deputy. Przemysław Babiarz is in the background of this story.
The atmosphere in the TVP Sport editorial office is still tense. It all started with the opening ceremony of the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris, where Przemysław Babiarz referred to the lyrics of John Lennon’s song Imagine. He was suspended for his interpretation. Later, many journalists and athletes signed a joint letter to the president of TVP, in which they emphasized that they wanted Babiarz to be reinstated. This is what finally happened. The experienced commentator returned to Paris and currently works at track and field competitions.

The case involving the 60-year-old sports commentator is by no means over. After Babiarz was suspended, one of the people who supported him was Jakub Polkowski, deputy director of TVP Sport. He issued a statement on social media, for which fans applauded him.
– I owe a few words from myself. I learned about this decision on Saturday, like most of you, from this very place, the X portal. My decision-making capacity on this topic was zero, but I have inevitably become one of its faces, although privately I have a different view on this topic, which I presented directly in a message to Przemysław Babiarz. You know the position of the TVP management very well and as the deputy director of TVP Sport, Kuba Kwiatkowski, I did not intend to step out of line, because these were decisions that were not made at the level of my activity – Polkowski wrote on the X platform.
– However, my conscience and human decency require me to take a public position on this matter, with the awareness of the consequences that lie behind it. That is why I fully support the letter from the TVP Sport editorial office addressed to the TVP General Director – Mr. Tomasz Sygut, which was published in public today. The voice of my colleagues from the editorial office is also my voice on this topic – he added.
Kwiatkowski was ruthless
“Przegląd Sportowy Onet” reported that after only a few months Polkowski lost his job at TVP Sport. He was fired by Kwiatkowski, and it was supposed to be about supporting Babiarz. This is a radical move by the director of TVP Sport, which only confirms how tense the situation is at this medium.
