During the performances in Górnik, the attacker was appointed to the Polish senior national team. He performed in it in 1985-91, including Participation in the 1986 World Championships. Urban played a total of 57 official matches in national colors, scoring seven goals. For the last time, the attacker played in the national team in the mentioned 1991 in the match against England (1: 1).

Urban became famous not only with great performances in the Polish league, but also on the Iberian Peninsula. A Pole from Górnik in 1989 moved to Pampluna, where he quickly became one of the favorites of fans of the local Osasuna. With a Polish attacker in the composition of the team, among others He was promoted to the UEFA Cup (1990/91). It is also worth noting Urban’s legendary performance in a clash with Real Madrid in the Royal area. Exactly on December 30, 1990, Osasuna won a spectacular league victory up to 4: 0, and the Pole showed off to shoot three goals for the winners. It can therefore be safely written that Urban shone in the Spanish league before Robert Lewandowski went there.

In Spain, Urban still performed for Real Valladolid (1995), CD Toledo (1995-96), then moved to the season to Germany, specifically to VFB Oldenburg (1996-97) and ended his career in his beloved Górnik Zabrze in 1998.

Coaching achievements of the new coach of Poles? Urban started by training young people in Osasuna. He also worked at Legia Warsaw (twice, 2007-10 and 2012-13), he was a member of the selector’s staff Leo Beenhakker (before the European Championship 2023-25).

Urban as a coach reached for the Polish championship (2012/13), two Polish Cups (2007/08 and 2012/13) and two Polish Super Cups (2008, 2016).
