Problems with the LOT plane to Warsaw. More than 200 people are stuck in Canada
Poles cannot leave the airport in Canada due to a plane malfunction. The PLL LOT flight from Toronto to Warsaw was canceled after many hours of delay.
The PLL LOT Polish Airlines plane from Toronto to Warsaw did not leave the Canadian airport as planned. According to RMF FM and polsatnews.pl, it was all due to a fault in one of the electrical components, which was detected during taxiing. First, the plane’s takeoff was delayed for many hours, stranding over 200 people at the airport. Now, according to the Toronto departures board, flight number LO42 on September 16 has been canceled. Today, as planned, two LOT flights are scheduled to take place.
Fault in the LOT Dreamliner
The problems of the Dreamliner belonging to PLL LOT at the Toronto airport began even before take-off, while the plane was taxiing. Then the crew of the Boeing 787-8 detected a fault in one of the electrical components. The pilots of flight LO42 returned to the parking lot and the mechanics began trying to fix the problem. For several hours, over 200 passengers remained on board, waiting for information whether the plane would be able to continue its journey to Poland. Then, when the attempts were unsuccessful, the travelers were moved to the departures hall where they continued to wait for further information.
The flight was cancelled
Unfortunately, the flight was eventually moved from 19:20 to 02:20 and was cancelled. The carrier assured that its ground services remain in contact with travelers and organize ways for them to reach the country. LOT also apologized for the inconvenience, emphasizing that the decision to cancel the flight was dictated by safety reasons.
The Toronto Pearson airport timetable includes further planned LOT connections to Warsaw. The next LO42 flight is scheduled to depart on Thursday, September 17, also at 19.20 and is currently marked as scheduled. Flight number LO46 will depart at 22:20. However, there is no confirmation that all passengers of the previously canceled connection will return to Poland on these planes. LOT announced that alternative flights are being sought for the injured.
