Problems in the Olympic Village. The President of the Polish Olympic Committee reveals the background

Radosław Piesiewicz spoke about the state of preparations for the Olympic Village. Athletes do not have air conditioning in their rooms, among other things. – It is not for me to judge. This decision was made by the IOC and the organizing committee of the games. We have adapted to it – he confessed in an interview with “Wprost”.

The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games will begin on Friday, July 26. Just before the start, Tomasz Majewski appeared in the Olympic Village and is responsible for coordinating the stay of our athletes in Paris.

Tomasz Majewski openly talks about what he found in the Olympic Village

Recently, in an interview for WP Sportowych Fakty, the former Olympic participant revealed that the rooms that the Poles will use are not the smallest, but they lack basic finishing. The White and Reds can count on fans, which do not provide as much comfort as air conditioning.

– In the village, apartments with bare walls were waiting for us. Some of them are not even covered with plaster. We are trying to arrange it somehow, but we already know that it will not be perfect. Those who expected wardrobes will be disappointed. Instead, there are only hangers in the rooms. We had to bring some of the furniture, and above all the air conditioners, from Poland, because the organizers only bought fans for each room – he said.

Radosław Piesiewicz: We have adapted to this

The president of the Polish Olympic Committee, Radosław Piesiewicz, spoke about this in an interview for “Wprost”, admitting that a lot of effort was put into providing our Olympians with the best possible conditions in the Olympic Village. “Starting with the installation of air conditioners, coffee machines, cooling vests, bicycles for moving around the village, or beds for physiotherapists,” he listed.

When asked if this is how it should look, he replied: “It’s not up to me to judge. This was the decision made by the IOC and the organizing committee of the games. We have adapted to this and are doing everything to ensure that our athletes have even better comfort than the organizers assure,” he emphasized.

PKOl President: We want our athletes to feel that they have everything

Radosław Piesiewicz confessed that in this case it was necessary to react quickly. – It is a matter of making decisions, sometimes better, sometimes worse, but you cannot be afraid of them. The Polish Olympic Committee started acting almost immediately when it learned that there were no air conditioners in the rooms, among other things – he continued.

– We’ll see if they’re needed or not, but we want our athletes to feel like they’re actually under proper care, they have everything and can rest in comfortable conditions. Whether they use them is secondary. The most important thing for us was to have these air conditioners there and to be able to lower the temperature – he concluded.
