Problem with sunbathing in Italy. The mosquito scourge has mastered the city
Sunny resorts attract tourists from around the world. Poles also visit many of them. If you go to Italy, watch out for one of the towns of Tuscany.
The problem concerns the invasion of mosquitoes, which almost completely mastered the Italian resort. Instead of a quiet rest on the beach, you can fight for survival with disturbing insects. Residents are particularly taken over. Even a special petition was issued.
Plague of mosquitoes in an Italian resort
The situation occurs in Orbetello in the Tuscany region – we are talking about one of the favorite among tourists from Europe. They are happy to visit, among others Florence, a pizza or a mallet, but also less popular holiday resorts like the one mentioned. There is currently a fight against the invasion of mosquitoes – residents write about millions a week and large difficulties in everyday life.
A special petition has appeared on the portal www.change.org, in which Italians point out that an emergency state should be announced in Orbetello. “We can’t walk outdoors. We can’t open the windows.” – we read in a message.
There were also regrets that the region’s authorities are not doing enough to master the problem. “This plague is not a simple nuisance, but the result of management, which has not so far solved the problem in a structural way,” reads the petition. Residents also emphasized that they have the right to live in a safe environment and that the situation is the worst when the temperatures are high.
Italians show photos
Petition is not everything. Inhabitants of the Italian resort and the surrounding area also publish photos of insects on the web. “These are part of the mosquito gathered in front of the door that goes to the terrace, not counting what is on the walls,” we read under one of the Facebook posts.
As you can see, the situation looks really disturbing. Mosquitoes can only be the beginning of problems in Orbetello. A large number of them is eaten by spiders, and this can lead to the fact that their population will also increase.
The city authorities announced help in eliminating insects. “The municipality will allocate an unprecedented sum of EUR 300,000. In addition, for several days, insect larvae in the lagoon has been fought with appropriate means,” was announced on platform X. In social media, photos have already appeared, which shows how destroyed, among others mosquito larvae.
