Prices of basic products in stores have gone up slightly this time. The price of red peppers increased the most, with the price per kilogram again exceeding PLN 10.
PanParagon conducted an analysis for Business Insider Polska of 14 basic food products that are on the shopping lists of most Poles. The analysis shows that last week we paid on average PLN 93 and 89 groszy for them. A week ago it was PLN 93 and 58 groszy, which means that there was an increase of 0.3% on a weekly basis. The portal points out that at the beginning of July this year an identical basket cost over PLN 101, and a year ago it was PLN 96.30.
Prices in stores. What has become more expensive, what has become cheaper?
What has become particularly expensive compared to the previous week? The leader in price increases is red pepper, whose prices increased by as much as 12.1%. Therefore, we pay more than PLN 10 per kilogram of this vegetable. Compared to last week, the prices of broccoli, apples and carrots also increased.
What has become cheaper? The king of discounts this time are potatoes, the price of which dropped by as much as 11.5%. Cake wheat flour also recorded a significant decrease (by 8.8%). Prices also went down, including: sugar, bananas, milk, butter, chicken breasts or raspberry tomatoes. It is worth noting that the price of the Kaiser roll has not changed.
At the beginning of next week, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) will present estimated data on consumer inflation in August. Let us remind you that the reading for July was 3%. year to year, compared to 2.5 percent a month earlier. The expiration of the Lower Fuel Prices (CPN) package at the beginning of July contributed to the price increase. After the package was abolished, fuel prices at stations immediately increased. By decision of the government, CPN was partially reactivated for the last two weeks of the holidays. Prices increased – compared to June – also in the following categories: recreation, sports and culture. In turn, a decline was recorded, among others, in the area of food and non-alcoholic beverages.
