President Duda in the IOC? His advisor has no doubts: A well-known, respected person
The Polish Olympic Committee recommended Andrzej Duda as a member of the International Olympic Committee. Alvin Gajadhur commented on this fact in “Wieczorny Express”.
The resolution recommending Andrzej Duda to the IOC, adopted on December 12 by the PKOL board, caused quite a stir. Among the numerous comments, we can see both mockery and compliments towards the president. In an interview with Super Express journalists, Alvin Gajadhur, advisor to the head of state, attempted to make his own assessment.

– President Duda is now focusing on fulfilling his duties as head of state, he is president until the beginning of August, he has duties and he will fulfill them. However, what will happen later, the president will respond to it and present his opinion on it – emphasized Andrzej Duda’s adviser.
– The International Olympic Committee is a very important body, it means a lot in the world and certainly President Andrzej Duda, as a well-known and respected person, would represent Poland with dignity in this body, Alvin Gajadhur added in the International Olympic Committee in an interview with “Super Express”.

The nomination of Andrzej Duda surprised some PKOL members. Ultimately, 29 out of 60 members of the body voted in favor of adopting the resolution recommending this politician. 4 were against and 6 abstained. Many were absent from the meeting. The president of PKOL, Radosław Piesiewicz, strongly supported the president, calling him “a person devoted to Olympism.”
Andrzej Duda could be elected to the IOC in February 2026. The first session is scheduled for this date in Milan, during which the Polish president will be free from his current duties. During the session scheduled for March 2025, the IOC will elect a new president. The upper limit of IOC membership is set at 115 people. Currently, there are 111 of them. All of them are elected for an eight-year term.
